Its has been ages since I've participated in a Show's Us Your Life post at Kelly's Korner, and this week's topic....College Alma Maters. I absolutely LOVED my college days, and was thrilled to participate in this week's topic.
I grew up knowing I would attend college at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. I can honestly say that I didn't know I could attend anywhere else. I grew up going to Vol Football & Basketball Games, and when college applications were due, UTK was the only school I applied to.
One of my oldest friends, LeeAnn & I in 3rd Grade...........we were UT BOUND even then!
I also knew from an early age that my college roommate would be one of my oldest friends from childhood, LeeAnn. We grew up talking about UT, and by the time college rolled around, we were ready to head to Knoxville. I think our moms secretly planned it that way before we were born!!! :-)
Senior Year........and ready to head to college!!!
We headed to Knoxville, a two hour drive from our hometown, and settled in for our freshman year. I mayjored in Communications/Public Relations and made one of the best decisions of my life, pledging Sigma Kappa!!
Pledge Class Retreat - Fall 1998
I meet one of best friends in my pledge class, Elissa, and she and were insepartable throughout the next four years. Like me, Elissa dated and married her high school sweetheart, Dennis, so Matt & I were always doing things together with Elissa and Denise.
Elissa & I - Sophomore Year!
Dennis, Elissa, myself, and Matt
My lil sis in Sigma Kappa, Molly!!! LOVE HER!
And of course, Rush!!! Always a stressful week but always brought us closer together.
I love my EK sisters!!
Of course I made other friends at UT. My freshman year, I was blessed to meet Julie who always kept me laughing throughout college and even after college.
And, my dear friend Melanie, who I still call a close friend!! Mel brought out the fun "outgoing" side of me during my Junior, Senior, and beyond years!! Ha!
Mel and I on celebrating our "21st Birthday". Our celebration went on for an ENTIRE WEEK.
Celebrating Our Weekly Tradition of Sunday Night's at the Cotton Eye Joe!!
College was a lot of fun. I was blessed to be involved in Student Government, Panhellenic Council, and many other things. I was blessed that over the four years at UTK, Matt & I stayed stronger than ever, and I was blessed that my parents supported me all the way through.
Mom, Dad, and I on Graduation Day!!!
And, most importantly, I am most proud of that during my College Days, UT Football experienced Victory at every level, and we won the National Football Championship!! WOOHOO!!! GOOD 'Ol ROCKY TOP!
And, how could I not end a post our UTK without a little ROCKY TOP!!
