2020 - My Word of the Year!

Graphic Credit
Happy New Year Friends!! I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve no matter how you celebrated.  We headed to dinner with my BIL, SIL, and Little Bit Davis for a fun night of catching up, laughing, and enjoying time together. We got home a few hours before midnight and we just chilled around the house, watched the ball drop, and simply relaxed.  It was a great night.

I love ringing in the year with my husband and our family!

I just love January 1st.  Its a day filled with hope, possibility, and dreams.  Each year, I take time to do Cultivate What Matters' Powersheets and part of the progress is selecting a word of the year.  I thought going into the planning portion of the Powersheets that I knew what my word would be, but as I moved closer to selecting a word it became clear that another word was more suited for my goals and vision for 2020.

This year my goals are not grand or over the top.  This year, I really want to become really consistent in the smaller disciplines in life.  I want to eat cleaner, workout more, spending time investing into relationships, spend more time studying the Word of God, and overall improve the day-to-day habits of my life.

So it become clear that the word I want to focus on in 2020 is NOURISH!

I want to be able to nourish my body with healthier food choices, more physical activity, and more rest.  Nourish my soul with in-depth bible studies, church involvement, and overall drawing closer to the Lord.  Nourish relationships by investing more time and love into those I love the most.  And, most of all nourishing the areas that have been neglected to help me become the best version of myself.

So there you have it my word of the year. I would absolutely LOVE to hear your word of the year if you do something similar, or write a comment with a few of your 2020 goals that you’ve made a note to conquer.

Thankgul Challenge - Why I Quit Posting Online

At the beginning of October, I had a goal of posting on social media each day something or someone I was thankful for each day; however, after a few days in, those closet to me began to say things like "yeah, I made your list, I was hoping I would" or  "I wondered if I will make your list this month?"

The feedback started coming just two and three days into the Thankful Challenge and continued each day. I was so caught off guard with the feedback, that I knew there was only one thing I could do.  I stopped posting online, because sharing my heart was  not about a popularity contest, it was supposed to be a time to give the Lord glory for all the good things in my life.

These things include:

- My Relationship with the Lord.
- Being married to Matt.
- Incredible Parents
- Amazing In-Laws
- A Brother-in-Law, Sis-in-Law, and Niece who mean the world to me.
- Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that I don't see enough, but I love with everything in me.
- An awesome job that awards me so many opportunities, and I'm in awe that I get to make it my carreer.
- Co-Workers and Work Colleagues that I love working next to each and every day, and many who have become close friends.
- My tribe:  My closest friends that I am completely transparent with and I trust with my entire heart. They know who they are without me listing each of them, and I am so thankful for them.
- My home that I pray is a retreat for all that walk inside.
My health: I have had to fight for my health this year, but as I end the year, I am more disciplined and my health is getting better and better.
- And, so much more.

I did relearn something during this month of intentionally being thankful, its that thankful and grateful people are so much more happy and positive, and that it the only way I want to live.

I hope you had an incredible Thanksgiving, and if you haven't taken time to think about what you are grateful for, I encourage you to do that this weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day Babe!

I think this 100x a day; however, I am not sure I say it out loud I often enough, but I am SOOOOO blessed, lucky, undeserving, fortunate, etc. to be married to my incredible husband, Matt.

Our marriage just works, and it works well.  Of course, there are always things we are trying to improve and want to improve, but overall I am OVER THE MOON in LOVE with the boy I met 22 years ago.  He tells me everyday how much I mean to him, how much he loves me, how lucky he is to be husband, and those words just fill my heart with so much goodness and love. He shows his love through actions and lets me be me.

He is an incredible man that is disciplined, loving, easy going, helpmate, encourager, listerner, etc.  And, I don't know how I got so lucky.

I cherish everyday, and work extremely hard never to take what we have for granite.

So on this Valentine's Day Week, I just wanted to celebrate the precious love we have!!

Love Ya Babe!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Sweet Friends! WOW, 2017 went out with a bang.  The last few weeks have been filled with nonstop work, parties, and lots of fun.  I have thought several times over the past few weeks of hopping on this little space of the internet and writing a life update, but never really felt I had enough time to really catch you up.  So, I find myself, sitting down this morning (January 2), with an extra day off work, to share an update from the past weeks.

Life is good.  Like, really good.  I don't say that to brag, or to make myself feel better, I say that because I worked throughout 2017 to really cultivate JOY in my life.  At the end of 2016, I felt like I was only going through the motions, and to be honest I wasn't really enjoying life very much.  I would look around and see so many friends achieving their dreams and really loving life, and I just couldn't figure out how to obtain that.  So, I sat out on a journey, to pursue JOY one step at a time.

Over the year, I learned the following things about myself:
  • I like to be around people.  My close friends and family energize me and make life so much fun.  Making it a priority to catch up and spend time with friends and family is so good for my soul.
  • Make good, honest decisions each day, and you can go to bed with peace of mind, which is priceless.  And, knowing each day that I worked as hard as I could was so rewarding.
  • When you  mess up, apologize for anyone you hurt and move on.  We are not perfect, and sometimes we say or do things we are not proud of.  When that happened this year, I simply took a step back, picked up the phone, and worked it out with those that were involved.   This also brought on stronger friendships and work relationships.
  • Spending time with my husband always grounds me and brings so much stability and balance to my life.  The Lord really knew what He was doing when He brought Matt and I together 21 1/2 years ago, and through it all, there is no one else I could imagine going through this life with, but him.

So, after saying all that, I can honestly say that I left 2017 with a life full of happiness and joy.  And, before I share my word and focus for 2018, I thought I would share some pictures from the past few weeks.

Our Leadership Kingsport Group is still going strong with our monthly lunches!
Luv these friends!

We are a shy group, to say the least.  LOL!

Traveled to Norfolk, Virginia with these two.
So much fun and loved visiting a city I hadn't been to before.

Driving up to White Top Mountain and cutting down our Christmas Tree.
The tree that Jamie and Matt are looking at in the background is the one we picked!!

The decorated tree!
We really enjoyed this tree, it was the perfect size.

Celebrated my Birthday with a short getaway to the mountains.
Lots of shopping and eating were involved.

We made it back in time to welcome Miss Emmalyn Grace Davis to the world.
We are all so in love with her.

Matt and I love being an Aunt and Uncle to this bundle of joy!!

We couldn't be more proud of Jamie and Kristy.
Love all the new adventures ahead for our sweet family.

Becoming such good friends with these two has been one of the best memories from this year.

Reunited and it felt so good.
Spending time with these precious friends was so fun!!

We spent a lot of time holding this precious one over the past three weeks!!

Another highlight of the holidays was catching up with my bestie and her hubby.

New Year's Eve in Nashville!!
Perfection!

Life has been full over the holidays.  We had an incredible Christmas and the week after Christmas was magical.   We headed to Nashville for New Year's Eve and had a blast.

As we move into 2018, my word of the year is Discipline.  I plan to cultivate a disciplined lifestyle to help me build healthy habits with my health, spiritual life, financial decisions, etc.  Its doing to be an amazing year, and I cannot wait to see what all the Lord has in store.

Happy New Year Friends!!

My Redeemer Lives

Happy Easter Friends!  Today is my FAVORITE holiday of the year, as its the day celebrated as the Resurrection day of the Jesus Christ. Today promises New Hope, New Joy and New Aspirations to everyone who believes in Him.  I am so thankful for my savior Jesus Christ, and I know whose I am and what my life stands for.  Its an honor to serve the Lord, and may I praise His name until my last breath.

Have a blessed Easter my friends!!

Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Thanksgiving 2016 did not disappoint. The past few days have been filled with family, friends, and lots of much needed rest.  We are officially ready for the holidays, and I've even begun picking up a few gifts too.

Thanksgiving Day
We kicked off the holiday weekend on Thursday morning by watching my all time favorite TV Show - The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  I really love the first 30 minutes, before the floats get to Macy's, to watch all the Broadway show.  My favorite this year was Holiday Inn's Musical.

After the parade, I cooked two casseroles, got ready, and we headed to meet our family for lunch at my In-Laws house.  Thanksgiving lunch didn't disappoint, and we had a great time catching up and eating a delicious meal.

Family Christmas Photo

We made it home in time, to change into lounge clothes and get ready for my best friend Tiffany to come over to watch the first part of the Gilmore Girls Revival.  It was awesome hanging out with her, and her sweet friend Brooke, and we made it until 4:30 a.m. before we had to call it a night.

Friday
I woke up around 9:30 a.m. and relaxed and shopped Black Friday sales until Tiffany and Brooke got up and headed home.  Friday afternoon, mom and I headed out for a little Black Friday shopping and then I came home to relax and take it easy.

Saturday
Saturday morning, I got up and headed over to my parents house to help assist with a little clean up as they go through a major remodel project.  I got home around 4ish, took a shower, and then took a 2 hour nap.  I was back in bed by 11p.m. and slept another 9 hours.  I must have been tired.

Sunday
Sunday brought another day of relaxing.  I did do a little online shopping, and then ran to the store to pick up groceries for the week.  After that, I cooked dinner and relaxed the rest of the night catching up on Hallmark movies.

All and all this long weekend was perfect and relaxing.  Its exactly what I needed to get me prepared for the Holiday Season.

Looking forward to the next few weeks, and all the fun and excitement that is ahead.

Christmas Checklist - November To-Dos

I CANNOT wait until Christmas!!!!  I know its more than 6-weeks away; however, I simply cannot wait to kickoff the holiday season.  The planner and organizer in me has put together a list of items I would LOVE to accomplish by the end of this month.  Check out the list below:

Decorate Our Home by Thanksgiving
I have always LOVED having our home decorated by Thanksgiving night, so we can enjoy the decor all season long.  This year is no different, and I will begin decorating this week!

This picture was taken on Christmas Day!  Excited this year we will have a professional picture done looking all festive!
Family Christmas Photos
This year is our family decided to get professional photos done and we are scheduled to do that next weekend too!!  I cannot wait to share some photos of our sweet family soon.

Order Holiday Cards
If you haven't checked out Minted this year, YOU SHOULD!!  The Christmas Card selection this year is remarkable. I have my eyes on the design above.

Host Friends in Our Home this Christmas
I hope my schedule allows for me to host a few friends over for a fun and relaxing Christmas Party. I just love living back in my home town, and love being closer to so many incredible friends.

Select Christmas Wrapping Theme
This year, I really want to select a Christmas Paper wrapping theme for all of our presents.  Have my eye on a few themes, and hope to select it by the end of the month.

Christmas List Finalized, and Begin Shopping
And, finally I am busy working on our Christmas List!  My goal is to know what I would like to get everyone by the end of the month, so I can begin looking for great deals beginning Black Friday weekend!

There you have it, my Christmas  To-Do List for November.

Labor Day Weekend...........

This weekend was soooo nice and quiet, and its just what I needed.

On Friday night, I ended up working really late and didn't leave the office until almost 10pm. However, I didn't mind because I really wanted to wrap up all my work "To-Dos" so I would not have to work all weekend.  And, it worked.

On Saturday, I got up and made plans to run errands with my good friend Ryana who just arrived back in the U.S. from Cambodia.  We ran around, did a little shopping, and then ended the night eating dinner at Ridgewood (best BBQ in America)!!  It was the best day, and I really enjoyed just hanging out with Ry and catching up, it had been too long.

On Sunday, I got up and hit the ground running.  I clearned our home, cooked sausage balls, no bake cookies, apple pie and a meatloaf.  We invited my parents over for dinner, and it was nice to have them over and enjoy some time relaxing around a good meal.

On Monday, I had another quiet day.  I finished Week #2 of the new Beth Moore study I am doing called "Entrusted," and then cleaned out the garage and worked out.  Next I got all my Junior League activities organized and started drafting new blog posts for future blogs.  Monday night, we just relaxed, ate dinner, and enjoyed the end to a quiet week.

This is my last quiet weekend for a few weeks, but that is okay.

Have an awesome week, and I am so excited to finally kick off fall!!

The Unofficial Start to Summer.............

Hello.....Long Weekend! I am excited the unofficial start to summer is here on this Memorial Day Weekend!  I simply love summer time.  In our house it usually means a little more travel, a lot more time with friends and family, and enjoying the sun being up until 9pm!

When I hopped on here this morning, I realized that I have not blogged since March.....eek!  I am not sure why this season in my life did not lead to me blogging more, but every time I would hop on to blog, my mind would just go blank.  However, I have some ideas on future blog topics, so hopefully this summer I can get back into the swing of blogging again.

Okay, back to Memorial Day fun!  We kicked off the weekend by heading to Nashville for the Jimmy Buffett Concert at the Ascend Amphitheater. We had an awesome time, and I loved seeing Jimmy at this new venue.  Definitely my new favorite venue to date for seeing Buffett.

We headed to Nashville on Thursday Morning for an afternoon of shopping at Opry Mills and then relaxing in our hotel room at Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

We had some fun with SnapChat this weekend.

Entertaining myself on the drive with some Red Nose Day Fun!

Next we headed downtown to eat at Puckett's.  The food was awesome,
and the perfect pre-Concert meal.

Trying to stay dry..........it rained for about 30 minutes before the concert.
But, then it stopped and the weather was PERFECT!

Found our seats and waiting out the rain.

So thankful my hubby introduced me to Buffett over 10 years ago!

 Jimmy......... Loved our seats!

 Buffett with my Sweetie.
And yes, I have been wearing this shirt for over 10 years to Buffett Concerts.

On Friday Morning, we got up and headed back to Opry Mills so I could meet up and catch up with a good friend, and then we headed off to Franklin to shop downtown.
It was a perfect day, and loved wandering in and out of these fun shops.

We ended our time at Gary's for a late lunch.
After eating, we headed back east for a 5 hour drive home.

We had a great time kicking off the holiday weekend, and I am excited for all the summer holds.
