On Tuesday, a Co-Worker and I ventured to an Egyptian restaurant to work on our Foodie Blog for our website. We are beginning to feature a variety of eateries and experiences in Knoxville to showcase through a vlog (video & blog). Anyways, we arrived at this small town place that only had 7 tables. We quickly found a seat, and as I sat down, I recognized a retired University of Tennessee professor, who is still very active in our community. Instead of bothering him during lunch, we went on about our vlog. As he stood up to leave, I called his name, and he smiled and came over and just chatted with us. We had a wonderful time talking to him, and catching up, and then he was off.
Soon after the professor left, the table next to us, with a couple of other retired gentlemen, leaned over and introduced themselves. We struck up a fantastic conversation, and before I knew it 30 minutes had passed; however, I had learned more about the fun plans of more development in downtown, and what changes he was making to make sure things moved as planned.
When our conversation ended, I couldn't help but think back to try to remember the last time I just STOPPED and listened to someone. In our go-go-go society, we are running from point A to point B, and back to point A, that we don't stop and just talk and listen. We meet friends for lunch; however, that time is timed, and before we know it , we have to rush on.
It was so relaxing to stop and take it in. Enjoying the moment, and just listening to all he had to say, was sooo refreshing. I realized as I drove back to work, how important it is to just STOP - and, enjoy the smallest moments in life. Sometimes those are the best!
In other news, I have exciting news that I can FINALLY share!! Matt and I found a house!! After 5 weeks of looking (it seemed like FOREVER), we found a house we LOVE! We went this week to finalize all of our mortgage stuff, and as of August 15th we will be HOME OWNERS!! We are soooo excited, and it was the perfect Anniversary present to us! Below is a pic of the house, and if the home inspection and appraisal goes as planned we will be moving in a few weeks!!
