When I woke up this morning, I was shocked to see all the images from the earthquake in Japan. I watched in disbelief as reporters scrambled to make since of all that was happening around them. However, I found myself going about my day as usual and hardly thinking of the incident. When I got back home tonight, I was reminded of the tragedy when I saw new pictures and heard stories that reported the death toll. My heart began breaking for the families and friends that will be ever changed by this event. My rpayers go out to everyone that was impacted by the earthquake, and, my thoughts turn to the Lord as I know the actions are meant for more than we can ever understand.
Yet, it makes me realize that we never know what a day will hold. In an instant life can change, and we will never get back the moments where we felt "normal". Each morning, before my toes hit the floor, I lay in bed and thank the Lord for the day that is ahead. I believe that the Lord has already gone before me and knows every situation that is coming my way, and I trust in Him to be beside me as I continue through the day. The Lord gives me wisdom, knowledge, and most of all peace to know that whatever stress or uncertainty that comes my way, that He is in control of it all. And, that trust alone is worth everything to me.
"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you" Romans 12:1-2 (Message)
