Happy Tuesday Y'all. Woohoo! Today is my last day at work this week, and even though I will be working on reports throughout the break, I am so excited about spending some much needed time with my family. And, of course my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is all my FAVORITE foods. Turkey, Dressing, Sweet Potatoes Balls, Cranberry Salad, Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie, Carmel Pie, etc., etc., etc. The list could literally go one for days.
Yet, with all that eating it truly reminds me that eating like that can only happen on special occasions. In fact, over the past three (3) weeks, I have really been taking my eating into serious evaluation. I have placed myself on a very random diet/life style change that I am hoping after I finish I'll lose weight and get my eating under control.
My plan is simple: take on one meal at a time and focus on it for six (6) weeks, and at the end of 18 weeks I will have completely changed my eating! I've always heard that you can you change a habit in six (6) weeks. So I am taking that idea, and reforming it into a lifestyle change.
My first task: to learn how to eat healthy/low glycemic index meals and foods from morning until 11:30 a.m. (The reason I am eating low glycemic index food is because of the PCOS diagnosis and these are the foods of choice for those facing this disease.)
Now if you are a southern gal like me, you know that splurging at breakfast may include a traditional classic country breakfast that includes biscuits and gravy, bacon, hash-brown casserole, scrabbled eggs, pancakes, french toasts, sausage, and much more.
Now those are yummy foods, but in my case I also craved mini chocolate doughnuts, sugary cereals, pop tarts, granola bars, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and coke-a-cola. Oh My!! So, about a month ago I began researching healthy food options, and my new breakfasts include:
Breakfast #1 - A Yogurt Parfait with Greek Yogurt, 1/4 cup of berries, and 1/4 cup of Ezekiel Golden Flax Cereal
Breakfast Option #2 - Two (2) Natural Eggs, One (1) Slice of Ezekiel Bread, and One (1) Pear

Also, with every breakfast I am drinking 17 oz. of water and taking my medicine for PCOS.

So what are your get healthy tips? Any long time ideas that have kept you in great shape and great health?? Would love to hear.
